Megan H. Acevedo

PARTNER

Megan serves as Town Attorney for the Town of San Anselmo and General Counsel for the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority. Megan has significant experience advising and representing local public entities. She has provided guidance to government officials and staff concerning a broad range of subjects, including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), land use, the California Public Records Act, and open meeting law requirements. In addition, Megan has represented public entities in litigation involving CEQA, public contract disputes, and eminent domain actions. She also litigated cases on behalf of the People of the State of California as a Deputy Attorney General for the California State Attorney General’s Office.

Megan received her J.D. from the UCLA School of Law in 2003 as part of the Public Interest Law and Policy Program. Before attending law school, she worked as a Program Assistant for a nonprofit environmental law firm. In 1995, Megan received her B.A. in American Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz with highest honors.

Megan serves on the Board of Our Children’s Trust, a nonprofit representing youth plaintiffs in state, federal and international cases that seek to secure their legal rights to a safe climate.  Megan grew up in Mill Valley and continues to enjoy living in Marin County.

Emily B. Longfellow

PARTNER

Emily represents municipalities and special districts throughout the Bay Area. Emily has extensive experience providing advice and representation in many areas of local government law including Brown Act open government requirements, conflicts of interest, the Public Records Act, drafting ordinances and guidelines involving a wide range of topics, State housing law, land use law, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and public contracting law.

Emily earned her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law with Order of the Coif honors in 2000, and received her B.A. in Political Science from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon in 1994. Prior to law school, Emily worked for local political campaigns and environmental non-profit organizations. Emily has represented both public and private clients with the Bay Area law firms of Miller, Starr & Regalia, Goldfarb & Lipman, and Epstein, Holtzapple & Christo.

In her pro bono practice, Emily represents asylum seekers through the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area, and volunteers to teach young English-learner children. Emily grew up in Northwest Oregon and has enjoyed living in Marin County for the past 16 years.
